For more than a decade at UNSW Sydney, the Australian Centre for Space Engineering Researc (ACSER) has provided leadership in Australian space engineering research.
Striving to foster collaboration between research, industry and government we seek to nurture links between our national and international partners to achieve Australia's space ambitions. Our goal is to develop space capabilities relevant to Australia's needs through research, innovation and education.
ACSER engages and connects through regular forums, workshops and events. We bring together the niche, and the not so niche, to encourage and facilitate future partnerships and collaborations so that Australia can secure and grow our place in space.

CubeSatPlus 2026

Building on the momentum of our decadal milestone event, CubeSatPlus continues to bring together a dynamic and diverse community of scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to showcase and discuss the ongoing evolution of the Australasian CubeSat and small satellite sector. Over the past decade, the CubeSatPlus series has played a key role in supporting the growth of Australia’s space ecosystem. From early discussions when CubeSats were an emerging technology and sovereign launch capabilities seemed distant, to today’s rapidly advancing landscape, the community has achieved remarkable progress. Australia now sees an unprecedented number of CubeSat and small satellite missions in development, reflecting the strength, ambition, and collaboration of the sector.

The theme for CubeSatPlus 2026, “Youth in Space: Building an Ecosystem,” highlights the critical role of students, early-career professionals, and emerging leaders in shaping the future of the space industry. It reflects our commitment to fostering pathways from education and research into industry, and to strengthening the connections that underpin a thriving and sustainable space ecosystem.

HEO will sponsor up to 30 students currently enrolled in university to attend UNSW's CubeSatPlus workshop.

To apply, students must meet the following criteria: 

  • Be a currently enrolled as a UG, PG, or Research student at any University.

To apply, students must:

  • Submit their resume.
  • Submit a statement on why they want to attend and where they see their career heading.
  • Submit their application through this form by August 15.

Successful applicants will be selected by the HEO team.

Each student who is selected will receive:

  • Free entry to the CubeSatPlus workshop.
  • An invitation to meet with HEO team members.
  • A HEO swag pack.
