On the 5th of October 2022, the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia presented NSW Infrastructure - Constructing the Digital Future. The cCDI and CSE HoS attended the seminar; the keynote speech was given by The Hon. Rob Stokes, MP and Minister for Infrastructure, Minister for Cities, and Minister for Active Transport, followed by an Industry panel. The thought-provoking discussion explored how government and industry will work together to build the future of NSW infrastructure and community. The panel consisted of Susan Lloyd Hurwitz (CEO, Mirvac), Jason de Sousa (Executive Director, Lendlease Australia), Janice Lee (Integrated Infrastructure Partner, PwC).
Large infrastructure projects have a way of defining our humanity. Infrastructure creates investment opportunities, jobs and revenue. But significant shifts in technology and focus on environmental and social benefits will be the driving forces which will shape the way our society functions for the next century.
Spending on major projects in NSW is at record highs, with the NSW Government investing $87.2 billion in major projects across road, rail, tunnels and airports as well as significant upgrades on property in health, education, and sporting venues. Impacts from AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity are taking our infrastructure digital, and will create thousands of emerging sector jobs in areas where “Smart Infrastructure” is reshaping how we work and live
