Dr Dong Xing
Working at the intersection of law, urban planning, and energy reform to advance equitable climate and energy transitions.
Dong is a lawyer and sustainability governance specialist with a Juris Doctor from UNSW and a PhD in Sustainability Governance from the University of Sydney.
Through his work at CSDR, Dong integrates statutory interpretation, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement to advance equitable climate and energy transitions. In this role, Dong conducts critical legislative and policy analysis of renewable energy and energy-efficiency frameworks and has co-authored the national policy report “Accelerating Home Energy Efficiency Upgrades in Australia: A Policy Gap Analysis”. The report maps policy instruments across federal, state, and local levels and identifies practical pathways for improving residential energy performance.
His professional background spans renewable energy project development and metropolitan sustainability strategy across both public and private sectors. Earlier in his career, he worked as a journalist for Australian national media, producing investigative reports and policy explainers. This foundation continues to inform his evidence-driven and communicative approach to law and policy.
