The LLM MBA (Law) allows you to study a Master of Business Administration part time while earning a master’s degree in law. Delivered through a combination of face-to-face and online learning, it provides working professionals with the flexibility to enhance their career prospects while maintaining full-time employment.

A candidate for the Master of Laws / Master of Business Administration (Law) shall have been previously awarded any of the following: 

  1. Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from UNSW Sydney or a qualification considered equivalent from another university or tertiary institution and a minimum of two years of professional or managerial work experience
  2. Bachelor of Laws degree with a credit average, from UNSW Sydney or a qualification considered equivalent from another university or tertiary institution and a minimum of two years of professional or managerial work experience
  3. Juris Doctor degree, with a credit average, from UNSW Sydney or a qualification considered equivalent from another university or tertiary institution and a minimum of two years of professional or managerial work experience
  4. Bachelor degree in Social Sciences or Humanities, with a credit average, from UNSW Sydney or a qualification considered equivalent from another university or tertiary institution and a minimum of two years of professional or managerial work experience
  5. Juris Doctor degree or a Bachelor degree in Laws, Social Sciences or Humanities from UNSW Sydney or a qualification considered equivalent from another university or tertiary institution and a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience*

*Relevant professional experience could include professional experience in legal and policy issues gained as an officer in local government; consulting on legal and policy issues; an officer/manager or similar for state or federal government agency with responsibility for legal and policy issues; corporate auditing, monitoring or managing legal and policy issues; project management with a legal or policy focus; NGO or international organisation responsible for law or policy reform.

The LLM MBA (Law) (9225) program is not open to international students except holders of an Australian temporary visa (other than a student visa) that has full study entitlement.

Program structure

The LLM MBA (Law) at AGSM gives you the specific skills to make a real-world impact in business and law. You’ll collaborate with your peers and gain diverse insights when you engage with the broader student cohort in your faculties. 

The program comprises 15 courses, totalling 90 units of credit (UOC) and is designed to be studied part-time to accommodate full-time employment. You’ll complete a combination of core courses, electives and optional specialisations to tailor your studies to your interests and career aspirations. 

The benefit of studying these programs together is that you’ll graduate with a double degree in a condensed timeframe. Studying these two programs separately would require more time and a larger study load. Whereas, this double degree consolidates key learning and outcomes, so you only have to complete 15 courses in total. 

Full program structure

This program contains a total of 90 UOC and can be completed in 2.5 years with part-time study. Students must complete:

Master of Business Administration (Law)

Students must complete a total of 54 UOC through a combination of core courses and law electives.

Master of Laws

Students must complete a total of 36 UOC through a combination of core courses, electives and an optional specialisation.*

*To be awarded an LLM with a specialisation, students must successfully complete at least four courses in their chosen field.
