Overview
The Master of International Business is a comprehensive postgraduate degree that teaches you a broad set of practical skills. International business is about how to be effective in today's globalised world, especially in multinational organisations, and this well-rounded qualification will provide a broad scope of business know-how. You'll develop the ability to think globally and strategically, setting you up to become an effective and successful leader in the global business environment.
This degree is suitable for graduates with a non-business degree seeking a postgraduate qualification in international business, as well as those with a business degree interested in studying a new area of specialisation. You will be able to design your own program to meet your professional needs.

Entry requirements
To be eligible for UNSW Business Master’s programs, you’ll need to have a recognised bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) with a credit average (65% or higher) as determined by the UNSW Postgraduate Coursework Entry Calculator.
Note: No other requirement (such as GMAT, GRE, personal statement or academic referee) is considered unless otherwise specified.
Admission pathways
Applicants who don’t have a credit average within their bachelor's degree may be assessed on other performance indicators, which may include:
- GMAT score of 600 or above. The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is an exam created to measure the academic abilities needed to succeed in graduate management education
- Completion of other undergraduate, postgraduate or postgraduate research qualifications
- Professional qualifications completed through relevant professional bodies, for example the Institute of Chartered Accountants or CPA Australia
- A Graduate Certificate from UNSW Business School with a credit average (65% or higher)
English language requirements
You may be asked to provide evidence of your English proficiency to study at UNSW depending on your educational background and citizenship. English language skills are vitally important for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments and examinations - this is why UNSW requires a minimum English language competency for enrolment.
If you’re completing an Australian Year 12 qualification (e.g. NSW HSC or equivalent), you do not need to provide anything extra to prove your proficiency. Your qualification will be used as evidence of your English proficiency.
If you do need to provide evidence of your English proficiency, this will be indicated in your application. You can prove this by providing evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:
- English language tests and university English courses
- Prior study in the medium of English
- Other qualifications
If you need to improve your English skills before you start your degree, UNSW College’s Academic English Programs are for you. The programs are suitable for various English levels and help you prepare for university studies and life in Australia.
Recognition of Prior Learning
If you are applying for a Masters’ degree, up to four courses, or 24 Units of Credit (UOC) may be awarded based on your previous business studies (bachelor or higher). You’ll be notified of the credits in your official letter of offer.
You'll need a recognised undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) with a credit average, as determined by the UNSW Business School. You will also need to meet the minimum English language requirements.

Develop your specialisation with core topics on international business essentials including data analysis, international human resource management, and risk analysis in a global context.
Choose from a broad range of electives to further develop your specialisation. Topics span all aspects of business administration and some specific elective examples include international financial statement analysis, global marketing strategy, entrepreneurship and new venture management and negotiating in a global context.
