Our fast-changing world calls for new thinking

Traditional ideas aren’t going to change society or fix the economy. A robot can’t solve problems with critical, creative and empathetic thinking – but you can. Our updated Bachelor of Commerce makes sure you build the most relevant skills now for your future-proof career.

Businesses constantly assess their weaknesses and opportunities for growth, so they can adapt and thrive in a changing economy. We redesigned the Bachelor of Commerce after speaking with our close industry contacts about their most sought-after skills, experiences and knowledge.

The Bachelor of Commerce offers data-focused majors like AI in Business and Society, Business Analytics, Economics, Fintech, Human Resources and Information Systems. Some the most popular majors are Accounting and Finance, Business and Management, and Marketing, which rank #1 in Australia (QS World University Rankings by Subject, 2025).

Get integrated professional development

Authentic work experiences are crucial to understanding how your studies apply in the real world. Career Accelerator provides work-integrated learning opportunities which are part of the Bachelor of Commerce and exclusive to UNSW Business School students.

The professional development opportunities include career mentoring, industry networking, global business practicums and internships. You’ll be able to clearly demonstrate the skills and proficiencies you develop with a digital portfolio called MyBCom Blueprint. The portfolio complements your resume and reassures employers that you are work-ready.

Arthur Chao completed six internships while studying a double degree that combined the Bachelor of Commerce with the Bachelor of Arts. His experiences spanned banking, finance and government regulatory organisations in Australia and Hong Kong.

“It’s important to try different paths of the industry you’re interested in. Getting broad exposure helps you know whether or not the job is for you,” he says.

Solve human problems with business solutions

You can work to create a better future. The Bachelor of Commerce includes purposeful courses on sustainability and social impact where you will gain highly employable skills that are in growing demand across a range of sectors. Whether you want to drive innovation, shape policy or launch your own social enterprise, this program prepares you for a rewarding career where you can make a meaningful difference.

You don’t have to choose your major straight away. The first year of the Bachelor of Commerce will introduce you to business essentials and show you how different areas of business work together to solve complex problems. You’ll discover which areas excite and interest you most.

Find your people

As you’ll find out in your degree, a successful business operation needs the combination of a lot of different skills and knowledge. Find your co-founders and friends in our clubs and societies. With more than 300 clubs to choose from, you might meet your graphic designer or food scientist in the Chocolate Appreciation Society.

Check out the largest society on campus – the UNSW Business Society, known as BSOC, which offers more than 75 events annually, including first-year camps and mentoring to help you settle in.

UNSW also had 37 students recognised as Top100 Future Leaders in 2025 – with 24 students from UNSW Business School. Our students are some of Australia’s best and brightest, supported with mentoring and industry connections from a global community of more than 100,000 alumni.
