Bram Burger
Bram's research focuses on MEAs, ocean law and governance, international law, and BBNJ Agreement with a focus on BBNJ Finance and the ocean, climate and biodiversity nexus.
Bram's work at the Centre focuses on supporting the Advisory Group on BBNJ Finance, BBNJ PrepCom conferences, and various ocean and climate-related research products.
Previously, Bram has worked in English, French, and Dutch as a legal compliance officer in Europe for FIRST PRIVACY BV, interned at the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, published extensively on human rights for the Dutch Lawyers Committee for Human Rights (Nederlands Juristen Comité voor de Mensenrechten), and led his own international law podcast called the Auxiliary Chamber.
Bram holds an LLM from Leiden University in Public International Law, an LLM from the University of New South Wales in International Environmental Law and Human Rights Law, and finally a BA in Public International Law from Leiden University College. Academically, he has focused on bridging legal and scientific communication to promote effective legal ocean and climate governance.
