How to use UNSW's Open Day Planner

What should I do before Open Day?

We've designed the planner to help make the most of your Open Day experience. Whether you know exactly what you’re interested in or are still exploring your options, there’s something for everyone at UNSW.

With more than 200 sessions across our Paddington and Kensington campuses, you can build a day that suits your interests – from campus tours, faculty presentations and advisory zones to interactive activities and demonstrations.

Get hands-on with experiences like aviation drone soccer, painting workshops and interactive psychology activities, or dive deeper into your future studies through faculty talks and lectures. Grab a block at our Build Progress For All Activation and write down the contribution you'd like to make at UNSW. Each block added to the installation represents a step forward.

How to use your Open Day Planner

Search and filters

To help you find what's most relevant, search or use the filters to browse sessions by location, interest, faculty or session type. Starting your day at our Kensington campus? Hop on the free shuttle bus at the Gate 8 High Street Carpark to visit our vibrant Paddington campus. Our shuttle runs every 10 minutes to and from Greens Rd at Paddington.

Once you've found a session, select view details to learn more. Alternatively you can select add to planner where you will be prompted to register.

Session details

After you click view details, you'll be taken to the session page which provides more details, including the session time, session location and what the session is about.

Add to planner and register

To add a session to your planner, you'll be prompted to register or log in for Open Day. Registering lets you access your planner before and during the event, make any changes, receive updates if session details change and view session locations on the event map.

Your planner is ready

Once you've added all your sessions to the planner, you can find them located in the my planner tab all ready to go.

What type of sessions run on Open Day?

We run sessions in multiple formats. Many will have set start times and often will run a few times a day. Click through below to learn more about what each session is.

To help you plan your day, we've also included an indication of expected popularity specifically for our various campus tours. While adding a tour to your planner doesn't guarantee a spot, it will help you prioritise the ones that matter most and arrive early if needed.

Drop by our advisory zones if you're looking for personalised advice on different programs, pathways to UNSW and more. These run all day and give you the opportunity to chat with academics and staff about your study options.

Get a taste of what your UNSW experience could be like. Lectures cover what could be possible in different degrees, along with living on campus and scholarships. They also span a variety of faculty subjects such as engineering, law and medicine. These run at specific times so make sure to check your planner so you don’t miss out.

Get hands on and step into a range of interactive activities and workshops – whether it’s behind the scenes at the School of Psychology, aviation drone soccer on the University Mall at Kensington or a drawing workshop at our Paddington campus.

We have a range of tours running throughout the day, including campus tours, behind the scenes of our facilities and labs, and accommodation tours. Take a tour at either our Paddington or Kensington campuses to get an idea of the wide range of facilities available to you at UNSW.

There will be multiple experiences available throughout the day, such as our Build Progress For All Activation at Kensington. Grab a block, write down the progress you hope to make at UNSW, then place it in the installation. Every block represents a step forward, and together they create a collective vision of the progress we can make. Likewise, there will be multiple activties at the Paddington campus courtyard to take part in, such as wood and metalwork, ceramics, photography and printmaking.

What happens on the day?

Log in to your planner and you’ll be all set to go. Refer to the planner throughout the day to check what you’ve got next, how to get there and when. If doing any tours, keep an eye on popularity, as spots are not guaranteed. Soak in the atmosphere knowing everything has been sorted for you.
