The final exam for your courses may be delivered as an invigilated, face-to-face exam or a non-invigilated, remote assessment. Understand how you'll be sitting your end-of-semester exams at UNSW Bengaluru.
Your course authority determines whether an exam is:
- Centrally managed: The UNSW Bengaluru Examinations Team organises central examinations. These are only either non-digital exams with pen and paper, or digital exams delivered through our assessment platform.
- Internal/school managed: Internal examinations are organised by your lecturer-in-charge and they will determine the delivery of the exam.
Important note: It is mandatory for students to sit centrally managed, invigilated final exams on campus.

Pen and paper exams
Invigilated pen and paper exams
Some exams will be delivered in the traditional pen-and-paper format. These exams are in-person and supervised by an exam invigilator.
If your exam is centrally managed, the location of your exam will be available on your exam timetable in myUNSW. If your exam is managed by the Schools, you can check Moodle or your Course Outline for more information.
What do I need to do?
- Remember to bring your student ID card, a pen, a UNSW approved calculator (if required) and anything else specifically instructed by your course authority. Everything else will be provided on the day.
- Check myUNSW or Moodle for details of your exam.

In-person digital exams
In-person invigilated digital exams
Face-to-face digital exams are held on campus and hosted using our digital assessment platform. These exams are supervised by an exam invigilator.
For centrally managed digital exams on campus, use this checklist to prepare for your exams.
We recommend using your own laptop for your in-person digital exam.
What do I need to do?
- Make sure you:
- Have fully charged your laptop
- Bring your laptop charger to the venue
- Connect your laptop to the campus Wi-Fi network
- Check your exam timetable for the date, time and location of your exam.
- Check Moodle for the details of your exam, including what you need to bring.

Remote digital exams
Remote digital examinations (non-invigilated)
Online, non-invigilated exams are delivered remotely on our digital assessment platform.
All centrally managed remote exams will be held on our digital assessment platform. If your exam is managed by the school (i.e. not listed on your exam timetable in myUNSW), check on Moodle for your exam details.
What do I need to do?
- Secure access to a laptop or desktop computer.
- Ensure you have a safe and quiet space to complete your exam.
- Check how to prepare for online assessments prior to your exam.

Other online exams
Other online exams
Other online exams are held remotely as determined by your school or faculty, and could be held at any time throughout the semester.
What do I need to do?
- Secure access to a laptop or desktop computer.
- Ensure you have a safe and quiet space to complete your exam
- Check Moodle for the details of your exam, including any specific instructions about delivery mode or what you'll need.

Require alternative arrangements for your exam?
If you can't take your exam as scheduled due to particular commitments or long-term conditions, you may be eligible to receive alternative arrangements.
Exam locations
Before exam day, make sure you know exactly where your exam venue is. Plan ahead on how to get there on time to avoid missing your exam.
Find your exam location and other exam details on your exam timetable in myUNSW.
If your exam timetable indicates that your exam location is:
- Digital assessment platform, log in to the system with your zID and password
- Internal Exam, this will be an internally managed exam by your lecturer-in-charge. Please consult with them for details about your exam.

An invigilated exam means that there will be a UNSW Bengaluru staff member supervising the exam on campus.

Check your final exam timetable, once released in myUNSW, for the exact details of your exam, including date, time, location and delivery mode.
Your course outline and/or assessment information provided in Moodle could also give you a good indication of the type of exam you'll be taking. Speak to your course authority if you have any questions.

Yes, you can complete your remote exams anywhere you have access to a computer, stable Wi-Fi and the exam platform. We recommend that you have a quiet space with minimal distractions to do your exam.
If you are overseas, please be aware of the correct time zone and difference for your exam.
