Exam timetable
Learn everything you need to know about your bespoke, end-of-semester exam timetable.
An email will be sent to your UNSW email as a reminder to check myUNSW for your exam timetable when it is released.
After the census date for each semester has passed, exam timetables are newly created based on your enrolment and program. We recommend you don't make any plans during the exam session, such as booking travel arrangements, until your final exam timetable is released. Please check the release dates for provisional and final exam timetables.
Please note: Attending your exam at the time, date and location as indicated by your exam timetable is a must. You will disadvantage fellow students and may be penalised for Academic Misconduct if you don't attend your exam at the correct venue.

There are guidelines at UNSW Bengaluru in place to ensure that your examination period is a positive and fair experience.
- Exam duration
A standard duration of 2 hours for centrally administered examinations. - Exam start times
Standard start times of on-campus centrally managed invigilated exams (i.e. exams with a UNSW Bengaluru room location on your timetable) at either:- 9:45am for the morning session
- 1:45pm for the afternoon session
- 5:45pm for the evening session
- Maximum exams per day
Normally, you shouldn't be required to sit more than 2 exams on the same day. - Final week of course
Exams and assessments that contribute to more than 20% of a course's final grade can't be scheduled in the final week of a standard teaching period. - Study break period
Exams can't be scheduled during the study break period. - In-semester exams
Internal exams are to be held during scheduled class time. Any formal assessment scheduled during the examination period must be included on the UNSW Bengaluru exam timetable. - Alternative venues
UNSW Bengaluru has the right to conduct exams in alternative suitable spaces, either on or within a reasonable distance of the campus with due notice. If an exam can't be held because of unforeseen or unexpected circumstances (e.g. a security threat or damage to an exam room), it may be rescheduled within the designated exam period. We advise you to remain available for the duration of the exam period. - Releasing your exam timetable ahead of time
You will have access to your provisional and exam timetables on myUNSW a few weeks before your main exam period. Please take note of these key dates at the start of each semester.

If valid circumstances prevent you from taking a scheduled exam, you may be eligible for alternative arrangements (such as a supplementary exam).
Example of Examination Timetable from myUNSW
- Course – the course you're enrolled in under which this exam is run.
- Exam Opens – the time your exam starts (or opens), including reading or extra time. Be ready at least 15 minutes before this time, either on-campus or remotely.
- Exam Closes – the time your exam ends (or closes).
- Exam Duration – the amount of time you can spend on your exam, including reading time and extra time.
- Approved Extra Time* (this only appears if required) – the extra time you may receive in addition to the Exam Duration.
- Paper # – the paper number for the exam. Some courses have two or more exams per teaching period.
- Exam Platform – how the exam will be delivered, such as online through Moodle or Inspera, or on campus with pen and paper.
- Location – where (or how) you will take your exam. If a room is listed, you are expected to sit your exam on campus. If your Exam Platform is repeated, you will take your exam online, remotely.
- Materials – the only items you're allowed to bring into your exam aside from a pen, pencil, eraser and ruler. You should also bring your mobile phone, which is to be turned off and stored under your desk, and a laptop if the Exam Platform is Inspera.
Please note: When the provisional timetable is released, all exam details - except for the location (which releases with the final timetable) - should be available to you.
* If you have an Equitable Learning Plan (ELP), there may be a longer wait to see the exact details of your exams while we make changes according to your provisions.

If the time between your Exam Opens and Exam Closes matches your Exam Duration exactly, these are your exam’s start and end times.
For example: If your exam opens at 9:45am and closes at 12pm with a duration of 2 hours + 15 minutes, then those are your start and end times. If you start late, your exam will still end at 12pm.

If the time between your Exam Opens and Exam Closes is longer than your Exam Duration, then that is your time window to take the exam.
For example: If your exam opens at 8am and closes at 8pm with a 1-hour duration, then the exam will be open for 12 hours and you can start any time after 8am. As long as you start before 7pm you will get your complete 1-hour exam time. If you start at 8am, your exam will end at 9am, but if you start at 7:30pm, your exam will still end at 8pm because the 12-hour window will have closed.

Your duration may contain + 15 mins. This is reading time and it's given at the start of your exam so you can to look through the exam questions. You cannot work on your exam or answer any questions during reading time.
Reading time won't count towards your Equitable Learning Plan (ELP).

No, your exam format cannot be changed and you must take an in-person examination on campus. Only remote exams can be taken off-campus.
If you are ill or there are short-term circumstances outside of your control affecting your ability to take your exam in-person, please apply for Special Consideration.

You may receive a No Exams Recorded (as shown below) message if you don't have any final exams once your final timetable is released.

For school managed exams, your exam time table may say Please consult school for exam time and duration or Internal exam – Consult school instead of a time, duration or location.
Information about these exams will usually be posted on Moodle or provided in your Course Outline. Contact your lecturer or course authority if you are unsure about the details for these exams.

You may receive a supplementary exam once your Special Consideration application is approved. Details (such as date, time and location) for your supplementary exam can be viewed in your exam timetable.

Create a subscription link for your Personal Timetable in myUNSW and add it to your preferred calendar app.
If your exam and class events aren't appearing and you're seeing a Timetable is unavailable message, you may have a Denial of Service Indicator block on your student account. You will need to pay your University debt to gain access to the service again.
