According to the World Health Organization, ischemic and hypertensive heart attacks are among the top causes of death. Without proper monitoring, this can be a life-threatening condition. In most cases, patients do not use health trackers because of their privacy concerns. These concerns are reasonable as Australia suffers from increasing numbers of data breaches, particularly in the financial and healthcare sectors. Australia's health sector reported 22% of all data breaches between July and December 2019, making it the most reported sector in the country. In the last two years, the COVID crisis has been among the biggest amplifiers of another 10% growth in the average cost of data breaches (in Australia, the cost of data breach has increased 30.2% for the same period). At its core, this project aims to enable a widespread, accessible and private heart health tracking app that can boost the uptake of these services amongst the privacy sceptics with significant health outcomes for the society.
