Description of Work:
ENSO is the result of complex atmosphere-ocean interactions and its effects can be observed globally. In the south Pacific Ocean, in particular, ENSO effects are very evident, affecting SST, ecology and fisheries. The contrasting conditions between the east Australian coasts and Chilean coasts present a dynamic scenario where non-ENSO and ENSO characteristics can be studied to bring insight about teleconnections. This project is focused on exploring historical SST and SSH data, along with reanalysis and climate models, to elucidate the connection between western and eastern South Pacific regions under non-ENSO and ENSO conditions.
