Description:

The flow through uniform tree canopies in a neutral atmosphere may be simulated using large eddy simulation (LES). This project will study the effect of canopy heterogeneity and solar heating of the canopy on the sub- and above-canopy turbulent flow. The results of this study may inform the development of mesoscale models for flow over forested areas.
