Rapid On-Site Verification Detection Technology
Transform the verification process with the cutting-edge On-Site Detection Technology—Rapid, Accurate, and Redefining Efficiency.
Transform the verification process with the cutting-edge On-Site Detection Technology—Rapid, Accurate, and Redefining Efficiency.
This project pioneers advanced detection technology by integrating emerging 3D materials with multimode ambient mass spectrometry. The innovative approach aims to revolutionise real-time analysis, positioning Australia as a leader in detecting socially relevant substances and their by-products directly from the field. The technology promises unparalleled selectivity and sensitivity, significantly enhancing on-site verification for applications in biosecurity, military forensics, the environment, and point-of-care. The project focuses on three key areas:
a) Synthesising a library of emerging materials, specifically 3D monoliths, with surface modification for unparalleled selectivity, enabling the direct capture of trace signature chemicals or molecular fingerprints from the field.
b) Developing a multimode ion source for an ambient mass spectrometer, expanding the range of detectable compounds, and enhancing detection coverage.
c) Evaluating the integrated system of modified 3D monoliths and AMS multimode ion source.
Students undertaking this project are expected to have a strong background in chemistry, with experience in electronics, analytical instrumentation, material synthesis, and/or data science.
