Scientia Project Summary:

As of 2007, over half of the earth's population resides in cities; thus the question of sustainability largely plays out within urban environments. Problems relating to urban sustainability pertain as much to cultures of consumption, desires and tastes for products and the more intangible aspects of urban life, such as the affective atmospheres that promote or inhibit the liveability of the city. This project, using the concepts and methods of cultural geography, focuses on aesthetics to open up new ways of thinking about urban sustainability.
