The Howard Library
The Howard Library Collections have a new home in UNSW Canberra Special Collections.
At the heart are the personal papers of Australia’s second longest serving Prime Minister, John Howard, from his entry to parliament and various government portfolios, through to his rise to Treasurer, Leader of the Opposition and Prime Minister, 1974-2007. By special arrangement with the National Archives of Australia, Special Collections is also proud custodian of Howard’s official archive. These significant collections are in turn complemented by the personal archives of Howard cabinet ministers (such as Philip Ruddock, Tim Fischer, and Peter Reith), and their political associates.

Hosted by UNSW Canberra, The Howard Library collections comprise over 10,000 items of personal papers, official records, political memorabilia, photographs, objects, posters, and artworks documenting late 20th century-early 21st century Australian politics.
Together these collections form a rich seam of recent Australian political history (1974-2007), recording the major political debates of the Howard Government era from all sides of the political divide, including material relating to the Nationals, the Australian Labor Party, The Greens, and One Nation.
