Overview
Throughout the program, learners will:
- be able to design and implement an optimised network
- organise network address space resources efficiently
- understand the advantages and disadvantages of various routing protocols and be able to apply them appropriately
- manage advanced network traffic control
- design best firewall deployment strategy and implement advanced security mechanism for an organisation.
Course content
This course is broken into the following core learning topics:
- Scalable Network Design
- Advanced IP Addressing
- Routing Fundamentals
- Interior Gateway Protocol (RIP2, EIGRP, OSPF)
- Route Optimization
- Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
- IPv6
- CCNA Security Basics (Firewall Design and Deployment)
Learning outcomes
By completing this course, learners will be able to:
- organise network address space resources efficiently
- understand the advantages and disadvantages of various routing protocols and be able to apply them appropriately
- design a network that can automatically allocate IP addresses to the computers/PCs connected to the network by using DHCP server and application of various routing protocols in a practical network
- perform network traffic control
- design network security management strategy including firewall deployment and management according to its organizational security demands.

Prerequisites
Please bring your own device for this course. You will need to download the Cisco Simulator packet tracer, which is free software.

Prof. Jiankun Hu
Prof. Jiankun Hu - School of Engineering & IT, UNSW Canberra, is a research fellow in several countries including Delft University, the Netherlands, and Ruhr University Germany under the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Prof. Hu is a world-leading scholar in the field of cyber security covering access control, intrusion detection and applied cryptography. He was the Security Symposium co-chair of the IEEE Flagship Conferences: IEEE Global Communications Conference, and IEEE International Conference on Communications. He is the Senior Area Editor of the top journal IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security.
