Reports of Council Meetings
Reports of the UNSW Council meetings are displayed below. The University is established by the University of New South Wales Act 1989 (NSW) to promote scholarship, research, free inquiry, the interaction of research and teaching, and academic excellence.
The Council is the governing authority of the University and oversees the University’s performance, academic activities, strategic direction, risk management, annual budget and other functions set out in the Act.

Council meetings are open to members of the University – staff, students and graduates and any other person invited to attend by the Chancellor or the University Secretary. Bookings are required with the University Secretary (via council@unsw.edu.au) a minimum of three business days before the day of the meeting. Observers will be asked to leave for confidential items.
