The Image Analytics Pillar is an open network focussed on building a community to facilitate and accelerate technology innovation for imaging-based diagnostics and clinical decision making.
The Tyree IHealthE Image Analytics Pillar is designed to support and engage with anyone working, or with an interest, in the Image Analytics space. The pillar is supported by joint Technology and Medical Leads and spans research across the following areas:
Infrastructure: hardware and software for data handling, data flow, exchange, and storage
Algorithms: develop artificial intelligence methods for automated medical image analysis
Analysis: image feature extraction, quantitative measurement, and statistical analysis for clinical insight
Translation: implement technologies from research to the clinic to support clinical decision making

Professor Daniel Moses
Medical Lead
Daniel is currently the Medical Director based in the Research Imaging NSW (Randwick Campus) and the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering (Kensington Campus). He strives to drive research collaboration between the clinical/medical and physical/engineering sciences and has a strong interest in translational research. His clinical expertise is in the field of radiology where he is currently the Director of Medical Imaging of the Northern Network of Hospitals, SESLHD and holds a senior staff specialist position with subspecialties in body, thoracic and cardiac radiology. His physical science/engineering background includes a BSc with majors in physics, mathematics, physiology and biochemistry, a BSc(Hons) in Pure Mathematics, a Master of Engineering Science (Biomedical) and a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering. His research interests include medical image analysis, functional MRI and pancreatic/prostate/cardiac imaging.
Professor Erik Meijering
Technology Lead
Erik is a Professor of Biomedical Image Computing in the School of Computer Science and Engineering. His research focuses on the development of innovative computer vision and machine learning (in particular deep learning) methods for automated quantitative analysis of biomedical imaging data. He received the MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Delft University of Technology (Delft, the Netherlands) in 1996 and the PhD degree in Medical Image Analysis from Utrecht University (Utrecht, the Netherlands) in 2000. Before coming to the University of New South Wales (UNSW, Sydney, Australia) in 2019, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Lausanne, Switzerland) from 2000-2002, an Assistant Professor at Erasmus University Medical Center (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) from 2002-2008, and an Associate Professor at the same institute from 2008-2019.
