Welcome to the Thordarson Group! Exploring how peptides, RNA and other molecules assemble and interact to create functional materials.
Welcome to the Thordarson Group! Exploring how peptides, RNA and other molecules assemble and interact to create functional materials.
Our work lies at the interface of chemistry and biology.
Using techniques from supramolecular chemistry, we try to understand how molecules organise and interact, particularly focusing on peptide self-assembly and the interactions of peptides with RNA and proteins.
The Thordarson Group designs and studies peptide-based hydrogels and other nanoscale materials.
These materials have a wide variety of potential applications across drug delivery, cell culture and nanomedicine.
By combining chemical synthesis with spectroscopy, microscopy and biophysical methods, we investigate how molecular interactions shape the properties and functions of these materials.
