In this course, you will learn how to identify cyber threats and vulnerabilities in networks and how professionals use frameworks like NIST CSF and ISO 27001 to manage risks. You will understand common attack methods, different types of cyber attackers and the role of ethics in cyber security.

You’ll also gain hands-on experience with Linux tools to analyse network content, passwords and vulnerabilities.

What you'll learn

On completion of this course, you will be able to identify cyber threats and vulnerabilities in computer networks and network equipment and evaluate how cyber professionals use cyber security frameworks to defend against threats and manage risks. You will recognise common attack vectors, various classes of attacks and the different types of cyber attackers.

The course will also help you understand the importance of professionalism and ethical conduct, along with their impact on working relationships and society. You will analyse emerging trends in cyberspace that may increase risk and explore how professionals can proactively plan for foreseeable future threats. Additionally, you will gain an understanding of key industry frameworks, particularly the NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF) and ISO 27001, and learn to apply Linux command line tools to investigate network content, uncover passwords and detect vulnerabilities.
