The project is concerned with the development of mechanical analysis and design optimisation procedures formulated for composite materials, thin-walled and sandwich structures, hybrid metal-composite structural components with applications in aerospace, marine, offshore, shipbuilding and other industries. The relevant modelling approaches and optimisation techniques are to be developed and implemented.

  • Model implementation into the FE code 
  • Structural design and analysis 
  • Development of the theoretical and specialised numerical optimisation techniques 
  • Sensitivity analysis of the composite components-demonstrators 
  • Material characterisation and prototype testing
