Description

The primary aim is to develop functional materials with tailored physicochemical properties—such as high surface area, selective binding affinity, and stimulus-responsive behaviour—to enable selective capture and enrichment of target analytes. A key objective is the integration of these materials with ambient mass spectrometry (AMS) platforms, allowing seamless coupling that reduces matrix interference and improves ionisation efficiency during direct analysis.

The expected outcomes include the development of highly selective, reusable extraction materials and hybrid AMS-compatible workflows that deliver faster, more reliable, and preparation-minimised analysis, with significant benefits for various applications such as forensic science, food safety, and environmental monitoring.
