General support

  • a(TEST)
    A fast, free and confidential rapid-HIV and STI testing service for gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men, regardless of HIV status. It is offered in three locations across Sydney: Surry Hills, Oxford St (Darlinghurst) and Kings Cross.

    ACON
    A health promotion organisation based in NSW, specialising in HIV prevention, HIV support, and the promotion of the lifelong health of LGBTIQA+ people and people with HIV.

    HERE by ACON
    ACON’s digital suicide prevention hub, connecting the LGBTQ+ community, their loved ones, and service providers to care, support, and resources.

    Multicultural HIV and Hepatitis Service
    Works with culturally diverse communities and with health services in NSW to reduce the impacts of HIV and viral hepatitis.

    Positive Life NSW
    Works to promote a positive image of people living with and affected by HIV with the aim of eliminating prejudice, isolation, stigma and discrimination. They provide information, targeted referrals and advocate to change systems and practices that discriminate against people living with HIV (PLHIV), partners, friends, family and carers in NSW.

    Qlife
    An Australia-wide counselling and referral service for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex. It provides early intervention and peer-supported telephone and web-based services to people of all ages.

    Sydney Transgender and Diversity Counselling
    Provides counselling services for individuals, families and couples affected by gender diversity. In addition to individual sessions, it provides a range of services, including group therapy, couples counselling, and education sessions for employers.

    TransHub
    A digital information and resource platform for all trans and gender diverse (TGD) people in NSW, our loved ones, allies and health providers. This platform is an initiative from ACON, NSW’s leading health organisation specialising in community health, inclusion and HIV responses for people of diverse sexualities and genders.

    The Gender Centre
    Offers a wide range of services and activities, which enhance the ability of people with gender issues to make informed choices. Its services: enable people to explore gender identity and expression; assist with the alleviation of gender dysphoria; include services for young people of all ages; and provide support for partners, family members and friends.

     

     

     

  • Pride Business Association (FKA Sydney Gay & Lesbian Business Association)
    A not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to provide corporate and individual business opportunities to our members and their guests through regular networking, business, and social events, and the promotion of LGBTIQ professionals in the business community.

    Out for Australia
    Provide visible role models, mentors, content and targeted support to aspiring LGBTIQ professionals, and to strengthen the sense of community among professionals and students. Its vision is to create an Australia where every LGBTIQ student and aspiring professional is confident to be their authentic self in workplaces which celebrate diversity.

    PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays)
    A not-for-profit voluntary organisation whose members have a common goal of keeping families together. PFLAG is available to give help, support and information to families and friends of all gay people.

    SPARK
    This ACON-initiated project coordinates workshops and programs for young, same-sex attracted guys (cis and trans) aged 18 to 26 years old. Its free workshops provide a safe and inclusive space for young gay, bi and queer guys to connect with each other while covering topics including identity, sexuality, coming out, relationships, and HIV and sexual health information.

    Rainbow Families
    Champion of LGBTIQA+ families and prospective parents in NSW. Its support network is run for the community by the community – volunteer-powered. It advocates for, empowers and celebrates the love and support that every individual is entitled to.

     

     

  • Minus18
    Provides resources and advocacy for same-sex attracted, gender diverse, trans and non-binary young people. It also organises a Queer Formal in for young people.

    Twenty10
    This service works with people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse, non-binary, intersex, questioning, queer, asexual, and other people of diverse genders and sexualities, and their families and communities. It provides a broad range of specialised services for young people aged 12 to 25, including housing, mental health, counselling and social support.

    Transcend Australia
    A national peer support network for the parents/carers of trans, gender-diverse and non-binary children, adolescents and adults. It provides information, resources, and connection to services and professionals. It also advocates for and celebrates trans, gender-diverse and non-binary children and young people so they can thrive and be empowered.

  • Inner City Legal Centre (ICLC)
    Provides free legal advice for anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+ in NSW. It can provide information and referral services as well as specialist legal services for gay and lesbian, transgender and intersex individuals. It also offers support for people experiencing domestic violence in same-sex relationships.

    Intersex Human Rights Australia (IHRA)
    An independent support, education and policy-development organisation, run by and for people with intersex variations or traits. Its work focuses on human rights, bodily autonomy and self-determination, and on evidence-based patient-directed healthcare.

  • ACON Asian Gay Men
    The ACON Asian Gay Men’s network is for gay men from all Asian cultural backgrounds. It provides a safe space and coordinates a range of workshops, social events, forums and other activities.

    ALL
    Established in 2019, a group of volunteers decided to create a community organisation that addressed the lack of queer communities and advocacy within the Korean diaspora in Australia.

    ANTRA (Australia & New Zealand Tongzhi Rainbow Alliance Inc)
    A community-based NFP organisation for Mandarin and Canotnese spekaing LGBTQIA+ community members through various online platforms

    ConversAsians and SocialisAisans
    Founded in 2016 as part of ACON’s Asian Gay Men’s project. Events are usually held at ACON’s premises near Central Station and outdoor events are held throughout Sydney. ConversAsians is a peer-led discussion group for Asian gay men. The group usually meets every two months to discuss topics relevant to Asian gay men, organised by volunteer facilitators. SocialisAsians is a social events group for gay Asian men and allies based in Sydney. The group holds a variety of volunteer-run events every couple of weeks.

    FOBGAYS+
    A community organisation that stands for Friends and Family of Brown Gays, Lesbians, Trans and Queer+ people. It works to bridge the divide between queer South Asian people, allies, and ‘broader’ society.

    Selamat Datang Indonesian Community (SDIC)
    Created to show support for the LGBTI community in Indonesia through participation in the annual Sydney Mardi Gras Parade and organising events where group members could network, socialise, form new friendships and feel supported.

    Trikone
    Trikone Australia is a volunteer-driven collective creating safe, inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals of South Asian heritage. Through advocacy, storytelling, and celebration, we empower our community to thrive while embracing their cultural identities.

  • BlaQ Aboriginal Corporation
    The peak organisation for Aboriginal Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual + Sistergirl and Brotherboy (LGBTQIA+SB) Peoples and Communities in NSW. BlaQ is committed to empowering the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQIA+SB community through innovation, inclusion, understanding and advocacy​.

    Oceania Rainbow Network
    A group that is committed to promoting and developing an organisation through the delivery of services that aims to ensure equitable access and outcomes, as well as participation, of the Oceania Rainbow Community in Sydney and in the State of New South Wales, Australia.

    Supporting LGBTQIA+ Arab/MENA communities.

  • Chilenos LGBTQI en Australia
    A safe space for LGBTQI Chileans to meet other LGBTQI people in Australia and help settle in

    Fruits from Brazil
    A group to connect the Brazilian queer community in Australia, and help newly arrived LGBTQI+ Brazilians in settling and integrating successfully into the local Australian community.

  • Sydney Queer Irish
    A social group for Irish people who identify as LGBTQIA+ and who live in, or are passing through, Sydney. The group holds various event throughout the year.

  • Sydney Queer Muslims
    A non-profit organisation dedicated to providing social support, education and resources to individuals and families in NSW. They advocate for a more cultural sensitive services for Muslims of diverse sexualities, genders and intersex status. 

    Rainbodhi
    A community group for LGBTQIA+ Buddhists and their friends. It offers meditation and discussion in a safe, supportive environment – plus a chance to chill out, hear Buddhist teachings, and develop spiritual friendships with like-minded people.  

  • Asylum Seekers Centre - LGBTIQ Community Support
    Facilitates an anonymous, peer-led support group for people with diverse genders and sexualities. These anonymous, after-hours, LGBTIQ peer-support meetings are for people seeking asylum and living in NSW. 

    Forcibly Displaced People Network
    The first Australian registered LGBTIQ+ refugee-led organisation supporting LGBTIQ+ refugees and migrants to settle and belong in Australia. FDPN works to build the capacity of LGBTIQ+ forcibly displaced people as well as services supporting them.

    Multicultural HIV and Hepatitis Service
    Works with culturally diverse communities and with health services in NSW to reduce the impacts of HIV and viral hepatitis.
