FAQs
General Understanding

LGBTQIA+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer-identifying people, people with natural variations in sex characteristics (formerly intersex), and asexual. The '+' is an inclusive and intentional way of representing all identities and experiences that are not represented by the letters.

Gender identity is how you define yourself in relation to your own gender. This can coincide with the sex you were assigned at birth or not. You can identify within the gender binary of either man or woman, outside, or in between.
Sexual orientation (or sexuality) relates to who you are romantically and/or sexually attracted to.
-
Pronouns are personal identifiers, just like people’s names, that often relate to their gender. By respecting someone’s pronouns, you show the person that you respect who they are and how they identify. These can include she/her, he/him, they/them, or a combination of these terms.
