PhD Candidate

Rena commenced her PhD candidature at the UNSW Faculty of Law in 2019. Her research covers the fields of property law and government liability, with a specific interest in the area of environmental challenges. Her dissertation is concentrated on the potential of the Public Trust Doctrine.

In addition to her PhD research, Rena volunteers at the Environmental Defenders Office, Sydney; contributing to, and exploring environmental litigation in Australia.

Rena holds an LLM degree from the University of Melbourne, concentrating on Australian Energy and Resources Law.

Prior to her postgraduate studies, Rena served as a legal attorney at Ankara Bar, Turkey. Her professional work focussed on government contracts as well as licensing/permitting schemes in the energy sector. Previously, Rena completed an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) with Minors in International Relations, at Bilkent University, Turkey. She was listed on the Dean’s Honour List during her LLB studies.
