CDEV3013 Experience Term enables students to undertake a purposefully designed 12 UoC course load ‘experience term’. The course emphasises problem-based learning in an interdisciplinary context which provides students with the opportunity to appreciate the purpose and lens of their own discipline mastery. Themes of the course include applied research; community and social Impact; government and industry engagement; leadership development; and global immersion.  

CDEV3013 can be undertaken either locally or overseas where content may be delivered and assessed by one of UNSW’s partner universities, is available to domestic and international undergraduate students and can be undertaken as a General Education course.

India - Term 2 2024

India Immersive - Circular Economies

The combined Sydney and Indian experience is an excellent opportunity for students from all disciplines who are interested in learning about the Circular Economy and/or also exploring career opportunities in the world of sustainability.

It will provide you with valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of circular economies as you bring your own disciplinary knowledge and skills to the interdisciplinary discussions of the CDEV3013 cohort.

  • Sydney

    In Sydney, the course will include weekly seminars and workshops at UNSW, Kensington and a visit to a SMART@UNSW MICROfactorieTM in the NSW Shoalhaven Region, Nowra, where you will learn about innovative waste management techniques and circular economy practices in Australia.  

    India

    During the term, you will also travel to India to undertake a 15-day study tour to experience innovative social and economic models of circularity in a completely different context. You will interact with UNSW’s local Indian partners; visit highly innovative waste management sites, Indian corporations, and community organizations in Mumbai, Agra and New Delhi.  The study tour will be undertaken between 8 June to 22 June 2024. 

  • CDEV3013 Experience Term is available for undergraduate students who have 12UoC available as General Education/Free Elective in their degree.  12UoC is equivalent to two courses of your degree. Students should have completed 48UoC by course commencement. 

    Please note IEST8001/8003 students may also be eligible using both courses for this program.

  • Single room accommodation will be organised for all travelling UNSW students. 

     Students will be required to arrange their own flights, transit, visa (if required to enter India), vaccinations, personal expenses, personal tourism and social activities and meals/living costs whilst overseas. 

  • In addition to the course fee required for CDEV3013, students must pay a program fee to participate. The indicative fee is $3,700AUD. 

     The program fee covers: Single-room accommodation, logistics, in-country transportation, site-visits, partner-visits, special group meals and organized tourism. This indicative AUD $3,700 is payable to UNSW on confirmation of enrolment and is non-refundable.

    Please note that CDEV3013 is not self-enrolled. Students will go through an interview process with WIL Central. Once successful, students will be enrolled by the WIL Central Team. 

Warwick, UK - Term 2 2024

University of Warwick International Intensive Study Program

The University of Warwick’s 2023 program offers a range of inter-disciplinary modules covering history, literature, politics, and international business. 

UNSW students who join the program will undertake two modules, the first at the University of Warwick and the second in Venice or Brussels and receive 12 units of credit towards your degree through enrolment in the course ‘CDEV3013 Experience Term’.

  • Travel will be between 20 May and 12 July, depending on your choice of study stream.

  • CDEV3013 Experience Term is available for undergraduate students who have 12UoC available as General Education/Free Elective in their degree. 12UoC is equivalent to 2 courses of your degree. Students should have completed 48UoC by course commencement.

  • Warwick University offers homestay accommodation for students for around £300 per week which the students will organise directly with Warwick University.

    Accommodation in Venice or Brussels will be self-sourced. 

    Students will be required to arrange their own accommodation, flights, transit, visa (if required to enter the UK and Europe), vaccinations, personal expenses, personal tourism and social activities and meals/living costs whilst overseas. 

  • In addition to the course fee required for CDEV3013, students must pay a program fee to participate. 

    Students self-funded additional costs include but are not limited to:

    • airfares
    • accommodation (approx. £225 - £680 per week depending on option and location)
    • living expenses (approx. £150 per week for groceries and local travel)
    • social activities and tourism.

    N.B. You must ensure you can finance your flights, accommodation, and living expenses prior to applying for the program.
