Work Integrated Learning (WIL) at UNSW

At UNSW students have the opportunity to undertake a WIL placement in two ways:

  1. Faculty WIL arrangements
These are WIL arrangements undertaken as part of a student’s degree program. This enables students to apply theory learned in the classroom to the practice of work through engagement with a partner organisation to enhance their professional and personal skills. (Please see below for faculty-specific information).

  2. Project-based interdisciplinary WIL courses
A group of students from different degree backgrounds work directly with an organisation on a project to provide the organisation with purposeful deliverables. This project-based course is designed for partners looking to source students from a range of faculties and perspectives.

  • UNSW Law & Justice offers a diverse range of internships, giving students the chance to put theory into practice, providing training, practical experience and a real insight into future career paths in law and criminology.

We encourage students to gain practical experience to complement the theory in their programs by offering a range of outstanding internships - legal internships and criminal justice internships.

UNSW Law and Justice's Practical Legal Training (PLT), the Graduate Diploma in Legal Professional Practice (GDLPP) offers a distinctive, practice ready program for law graduates intending to seek admission to the legal profession. The GDLPP, designed to surpass the national competency standards for entry-level lawyers, consists of coursework and workplace experience that develops both practical skills and proficiency in the day-to-day practice of law. Developed with practitioners from across the profession and working in close partnership with firms, the GDLPP offers a tailored PLT program, a national curriculum and the earliest possible admission dates to practice.
