Haloragodendron lucasii or “Hal” is known only from Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Despite many years of passionate conservation efforts, the species has never been recorded produces viable seed or fruit. Working with the Botanic Gardens of Sydney, NSW Saving our Species, NSW National Parks and Wildlife and Ku ring gai Council we are helping to investigate why Hal is sterile, and if we can use hand crossing or hybridisation to retore viable seed production.
