What is the UNSW Handbook?
The UNSW Handbook is the primary source of information on all coursework programs and subjects. It should be used when you are planning ahead for your enrolment to ensure you are meeting your program requirements.
A new version of the Handbook is released each academic year to cover the latest course and program requirements. It contains the following details:
Program
A program is also known as a degree. In order to obtain a degree, you must complete a set of prescribed courses at UNSW and other requirements.
The Program Handbook will have details on:
- Total Units of Credit (UoC) required for program completion
- Intake period/s
- Program requirements and structure including list of courses.
Course
A course is a structured unit of study within a subject area. It usually consists of classes throughout one teaching period.
The Course Handbook will have details on:
- Course overview
- Term offering/s and delivery mode
- Pre- or co-requisites for enrolment
- Indicative fees
Which Handbook should I use or follow?
If you're looking for information on your degree or program, you should be following the Handbook from the year you started your studies. Program requirements could change from year to year. It is important that you are adhering to your cohort's program requirements to ensure you can complete your degree on time.
If you're looking for course information, please use the latest Handbook so that you can access the current curriculum, course requirements and indicative fees.
