Safe to speak at UNSW
Speak freely. Report safely.
Speak freely. Report safely.
At UNSW, we create safe spaces for students and staff to express different views without fear. If you see or experience something that does not feel right, SpeakUp at UNSW is a safe and confidential way to report concerns and get support. You can speak up as a student, staff member, member of the public, or anonymously. You are free to respectfully disagree, express your opinion, share your beliefs, and join or leave any club or organisation.
One serious threat to these freedoms is foreign government harassment. This occurs when a foreign authority harasses, intimidates or monitors people to suppress their views.
Foreign government harassment targeted at universities (including students and staff) can show up in different ways, including:
Such actions do not align with Academic Freedom, and the UNSW Code of Conduct and Values.
Where such actions may have been carried out by, or on behalf of a foreign state actor, this could constitute foreign government harassment. You are encouraged to Speak Up and submit a report to UNSW Conduct and Integrity.
