The Village Green temporarily closed for upgrade works.

From Monday, 29 September 2025, the Village Green will be closed to improve drainage and enhance the overall quality of the playing surface.

This project includes new turf, upgraded drainage systems and performance improvements to support better sporting and recreational experiences on campus. The upgrade is scheduled to finish in January 2026, ahead of O-Week.

This upgrade includes:

  • Rectifying the hydraulic drainage system with improved draining cells
  • Removing and replacing turf
  • Installing new performance pads and infills.

How this affects you

  • The Village Green will be closed for use.
  • Truck movements in the vicinity will increase during work hours.
  • Loading dock and parking bays near the site will be temporarily inaccessible.
  • Arc-affiliated clubs will be rescheduled to alternative sporting fields.
  • Signage and fencing will be in place to help guide you around the site.
  • Emergency access will remain available during the works.
  • If you're walking or cycling near construction areas, stay alert and avoid using your mobile phone.

UNSW clubs and sports teams have already been informed and are rescheduling games to other fields. We appreciate your patience while we deliver this important campus improvement.
