UNSW and Arc have launched a new Food Security Strategy to support students facing rising cost-of-living pressures. National reports indicate that over half of university students experience food insecurity.

The strategy features a three-tiered approach: rapid relief, skill-building and long-term systemic support.

Key initiatives include:

  • Expanding the Arc Food Hub
  • Offering free meal programs
  • Introducing 24/7 food lockers
  • Providing cooking classes and supermarket tours
  • Developing broader support services through a proposed Basic Needs Hub.

The goal of the strategy is to ensure that all students have reliable access to nutritious food while promoting wellbeing, equity and a sense of community at UNSW.
