Ask and you shall receive. So, you thought that free subscription to The Sydney Morning Herald was the extent of the freebies? Think again.

Reading the latest breaking news, catching up on politics from Canberra or catching up on results from your favourite sporting teams just got easier for UNSW students.

Everyone with a UNSW email address can now sign up for unlimited access to News Corp Australia digital titles, including The Australian and The Daily Telegraph. These are all delivered through a range of channels, including websites, apps, podcasts, newsletters and the digital newspaper edition, so you have your pick of platform.

Staying on top of the latest news has never been more important in this rapidly changing world and this agreement provides a range of leading titles to all UNSW students and staff, said Verity Firth, UNSW Vice President Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement.

“We are delighted to offer our students and staff access to News Corp Australia sites,” Prof Firth said.

 “This is a terrific chance to access this significant stable of news publications and provides an opportunity to engage with issues that are pertinent to all of us, both locally and around the world. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this fantastic resource.”

What do I get as part of this free subscription?

Great question. In short, you get a lot.

The subscription includes local, national and international news, politics, business, sport, technology, culture, entertainment, lifestyle and local community stories.

There's full access to The Daily Telegraph and NewsLocal providing the latest stories across Sydney, the Hunter and other NSW communities. The offer also includes News Corp’s other metropolitan and regional titles including the Herald Sun, The Courier-Mail, The Advertiser, The Mercury, NT News, Geelong Advertiser, Cairns Post, Gold Coast Bulletin and Townsville Bulletin.

Print products are not included - sorry to those old-school hard copy fans - but you can browse a digital replica of each day’s newspaper in the apps.

Also accessible is the full range of The Australian’s podcasts, including Hedley Thomas’s latest cold case drama, The Poisoned Wife. For true crime lovers, there is The Daily Telegraph’s award-winning The War, a series about Sydney’s gang wars.

How do I sign up?

Anyone with an approved UNSW or UNSW College email address can sign up. All you need to do is head over to the registration page, agree to the relevant terms and privacy policy, and create or link a News account. You can then sign up for newsletters and alerts from the various publications.

With the News Corp deal joining the similar offering with Nine newspapers earlier this year, you're going to be spoiled for choice when it comes to free content.
