Science Building

UNSW takes a holistic, university-wide approach to ensure students underrepresented in higher education can access, fully participate and succeed at university. Student Equity leads UNSW’s primary widening participation strategy and collaborates directly with faculties, divisions and students to design and implement targeted initiatives across the student life cycle.

Widening Participation Strategy to 2035

A university-wide approach to driving equitable access to higher education, creating inclusive pathways and fostering student success.

Widening Participation Target

We are committed to building a student community that reflects the broader Australian population.

In 2026, 25% of commencing domestic undergraduate students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, or have attended a Gateway partner school.
