Improve the accessibility of UNSW’s built environment and facilities

UNSW is continuing to embed a stronger commitment to accessible environments into our policies, processes and practices. This is being achieved through:

  1. An accessibility audit of Kensington campus to build a stronger awareness of the accessibility improvements required.
  2. The inclusion of accessibility requirements and Universal Design principles in UNSW’s Future Campus Principles: Pillar four: Campus experience which will inform the University’s next Campus Master Plan and Asset Management Plan
  3. Upgrades and improvements to the Australian Defense Force Academy (ADFA) campus in Canberra in response to the 2021 Design for Dignity audit.

Additionally, an Autism Friendly Campus audit has been undertaken by Aspect Australia of our Kensington Campus to inform improvements and ensure neuroinclusive environments at UNSW.

Improve UNSW’s digital accessibility

  1. UNSW Website developers strive for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA for UNSW websites. Accessibility assessments are scheduled prior to the launch of new websites and when new components have been designed.
  2. Accessibility information has been included in the UNSW Web Guide to assist staff in ensuring that digital content is accessible.

UNSW’s Digital User Standard commits the university to ensuring digital accessibility of our products and services.
