Equity Student Talent Pool
UNSW has developed a centralised Equity Student Talent Pool to prioritise casual job opportunities for students from low-SES backgrounds and Gateway partner schools.
Joining the Talent Pool allows students to:
- Access employment opportunities that complement your studies.
- Build professional experience in a supportive environment.
- Develop workplace skills to prepare for post-graduation employment.
How it works
For students
Expressions of Interest will open in February 2026. Eligible students will be invited to submit an EOI and be included in the Talent Pool, which is refreshed annually to align with student intakes.
UNSW staff across faculties and divisions will use the talent pool to identify and recruit students for casual roles.
If you have further questions, contact student.equity@unsw.edu.au.
For staff
To access the Equity Talent Pool during the initial phase, managers can email HR with the subject line ‘Equity Talent Pool’ to express interest or request student profiles.
The pilot already includes 180 vetted students with capabilities across areas such as event support and communications, searchable by skillset to support shortlisting.
The Equity Talent Pool is a practical way we can turn our commitment to student equity into action. By offering meaningful casual work to students from underrepresented backgrounds, we strengthen belonging, expand opportunity, and set them up for success beyond university. If you are in a position to hire, this is a chance for you to make a real difference.
