In this project, we worked closely with scientists at the NSW DPI Port Stephens Fisheries Institute (PSFI) to understand the importance of gut health and how healthy microbiota develop in commercially important aquaculture species.

This project will follow on from recent work (Wilkes Walburn et al. 2019 Microbial Biotechnology), demonstrating a strong correlation between gut microbes and those associated with a given feed-stock suggesting a mechanism to improve fish health through the delivery of beneficial probiotic consortia.
