Research goal
Students on the Pacific Water Security project work with Pacific Islands governments to address real-world WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) challenges and design sustainable solutions that empower disadvantaged communities and improve lives.

To date, the PWS team have worked on the following design challenges:
Bio-inspired water skimmer to fight plastic pollution in the Pacific
Sustainable groundwater extraction systems for remote island communities
Portable water quality test kits for schools on outlying islands
Affordable water filtration systems for rural healthcare facilities
Other design challenges are likely to emerge in consultation with Pacific Island communities.
