Where does VIP fit within my degree?
VIP courses can count towards varying elective requirements dependent on the degree you’re enrolled in.
Students WAM and Academic Performance will be taken into consideration when applying for a VIP project.
Faculty of Engineering
Engineering students can generally count VIP courses (ENGG2600/3600/4600) towards discipline/breadth electives or first-year elective.
Please ensure that you have enough elective space in your program to participate. If you are unsure, contact your undergraduate coordinator.
If unsure of remaining program requirements, please contact The Nucleus for guidance.
The VIP courses are not listed in the 2020 Handbook for each stream, however, are listed from 2021 onwards.

Faculty of Medicine and Health
Medicine Students who are in 3rd or 4th year (doing an ILP project can apply to join a VIP team. These courses will satisfy General Education Electives. Find more about General Education courses for Medicine Students here.
The VIP course is spread over a full year, it will require students to request to overload for course load.
Contact the the medicine faculty.
Please consult with your Program Authority to discuss where this course fits within program requirements.
Other Faculties
Students from other faculties outside of engineering or medicine are welcome to apply to join a VIP team (ENGG2600, 3600, 4600) subject to program requirements and program authority approval. These courses will generally satisfy General Education (GE) requirements.
Students will have to seek permission to overload, as VIP course counts 2 UoC per term (T1, T2 & T3).
Non-Engineering Students
All other non-engineering students from second year onwards are welcome to apply for a project in The ChallENG Program as General Education Electives.
International Students
If you are an international student you can only join a VIP team if the course doesn't affect the timeframe of your Confirmation of Enrolment (COE).
