This week UNSW Sydney hosted the 2026 AEWT, an international competition that brought together students from eight leading universities across Europe, Asia, North America and Australia.

More than 75 competitors took part in a week-long program blending elite Esports titles — including League of Legends, Valorant, Rocket League and Teamfight Tactics — with debates, business pitches, research workshops and creative design challenges, showcasing how competitive gaming develops real-world skills such as teamwork, strategy, innovation and problem-solving.

After an intense week of competition on the Kensington campus, UNSW ADA's team emerged victorious, demonstrating exceptional performance across both Esports and academic challenges.

Team members Callum Brown, Aidan Hui, Dedrick Zheng, Xinyue Zhang, Michael Krasnoff, Atakan Emre Ozturk, Jingcheng Zhu, Natalie Georgia Haikalis, Will Kamya Gibbs, Damien Qin Kai Yu and Sadie Lane were awarded first place for gaining the most points in the tournament.

Their win capped an engaging international event that highlighted how Esports can bring students together, spark creativity and strengthen global connections.
