SPRC and researchers from the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (Curtin University) and the Telethon Kids Institute (University of Western Australia) undertook the second evaluation of headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation.

headspace aims to improve the availability, accessibility and appropriateness of mental health support for 12 to 25-year-olds. The evaluation assessed the extent to which the headspace program is achieving its objectives. It examined young people's access to, engagement with and outcomes from using headspace services, explored the service model and assessed the costs and effects of the program.

This longitudinal project builds on the first evaluation of headspace, conducted by SPRC, using a range of methods: interviews with young people attending headspace and program staff; a survey of service providers; analysis of headspace's minimum data set; and a survey comparing young people attending headspace with young people who are not.
