Equity, Diversity & Inclusion – Arts, Design & Architecture
UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture is committed to enabling an equitable learning experience for all.
At UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment where all students feel supported, respected, and empowered to thrive. We recognise the diverse backgrounds, experiences and needs of our student community, and actively work to ensure that every student has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. Learn about some of the support we offer to students and our broader contributions to equity below.
Gateway & Gateway equity cohorts
UNSW ADA provides tailored support for eligible students who have entered ADA via the Gateway Program and/or are part of the Gateway Equity Target cohort. Depending on eligibility, current support may include access to essential textbooks and materials, a placement stipend, and transition support through Start@UNSW to help ensure equitable participation in university study.
Indigenous students
In partnership with Nura Gili, UNSW ADA provides tailored support for Indigenous students, including a dedicated Student Support Specialist offering guidance throughout university life, scholarships advice, and financial assistance for materials and placements.
Cultural and linguistic inclusion
UNSW is a vibrant, multicultural campus with students and staff from over 120 nationalities. Students can connect with cultural communities, join language support and exchange opportunities, global peer mentoring, access dedicated spaces and resources, and engage with a range of networks such as Pasifika@UNSW.
LGBTQIA+ students
UNSW ADA is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ students through advocacy, on- and off-campus support, and initiatives like the Trans & Gender Diversity visibility campaign.
Students with disability
Students who have a disability, mental or physical health condition, or who are carers for someone with these conditions may be eligible for support through Equitable Learning Services, peer mentoring programs, and additional resources. Advisors, resources, and disability-focused initiatives such as the Diversified project help ensure equitable access to learning and campus life.
Other supports
UNSW offers additional identity-based support and resources, including breastfeeding/chestfeeding rooms and more. Learn more in the Student Life section, or explore broader equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives across UNSW.
