Introduction to Auslander-Reiten theory

Abstract:

This is the first of 2 maybe 3 talks. My goal is to introduce the Nakayama functor, the Auslander-Reiten translation and show how they are related in both the classical theory and in "higher AR theory" as introduced by Iyama. I will prove the existence of almost split sequences which are central to the subject.
