Abstract:

I will discuss algorithms for computing the zeta function of a variety over a finite field, focusing on methods introduced in my paper "Computing zeta functions of arithmetic schemes" (2015). The goal of this work is to obtain good asymptotic performance with respect to the prime pp (the characteristic), for as wide a range of varieties as possible.
