Abstract

A well known consequence of GRH is that partial sums of Dirichlet characters are small. Granville and Soundararajan have shown if partial sums of Dirichlet characters are not small then counterexamples to GRH can be localised. I’ll describe some joint work with Oleksiy Klurman and Jesse Thorner which quantitatively improves Granville and Soundararajan’s result along with extending to a wide class of automorphic L-functions.
