Abstract

Toric varieties are a rich, yet tractable class of spaces, whose geometry can be understood via the combinatorics of polytopes.

We'll give an introduction to these spaces from the algebro-geometric and topological viewpoints, then explain some recent work that describes quotients of toric varieties by finite reflection groups (joint with Colin Crowley & Tao Gong).
