Although Ella didn't do any business subjects in high school, towards the end of Year 12 she knew she wanted a career in Commerce. UNSW became her first preference when she learned of the Business School's reputation as a leader in the Asia-Pacific, and UNSW's vibrant student lifestyle.
The first year of Ella's Commerce degree introduced her to a broad range of business subjects. She discovered a passion for marketing and management - and loved being encouraged to learn independently and think critically.
She took part in the Business School's Career Accelerator program, which offered career mentoring, among other experiences. The mentoring program matches final year students to successful Business School graduates. The mentors share industry insights and interview tips and support students in launching their careers.
"The program taught me a significant amount about myself, in particular about my capability to adapt to new circumstances beyond my comfort zone. My industry mentor was a great source of advice and experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed observing and learning from her throughout the program."
Ella now works with a diverse team in a marketing role at Westfield. The skills and theory from her management major are invaluable when engaging clients and stakeholders.
