UNSW Business School Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee

The EDI Committee plays a pivotal role in advancing the UNSW Business School’s contribution to the University’s Progress for All Strategy, supporting our longer-term ambitions through to 2030 and beyond. Our work embodies the ethos of transformative education, innovative research, inclusive engagement, and societal impact. We bring together colleagues from diverse disciplines to collaborate with industry, institutions, and communities, driving equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging across teaching, research, engagement, and operations.

Aligned with the Faculty EDI Plan, UNSW 2030 Business School Strategy, and the University-wide Progress for All Strategy, the EDI Committee helps to foster a culture where everyone — staff and students alike— can thrive, contribute, and lead.

Our Commitments

The EDI Committee drives positive change to make UNSW Business School a place where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. We champion fairness, opportunity, and inclusion across our students, staff, alunni and our communities, aligning with UNSW’s Progress for All Strategy, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and our Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) commitments.

What do we do?:

  • Deliver on Strategy: Put the Faculty EDI Plan into action, aligning our work with UNSW’s strategic goals and global commitments.
  • Track and Improve: Review progress on diversity and inclusion targets, and continually refine actions to create meaningful impact.
  • Create Opportunities: Develop and support initiatives that improve access and success for underrepresented students, including Indigenous, low-SES, and female students in tech and quantitative fields.
  • Support Equity in the Workplace: Influence recruitment, promotions, pay equity, training, and career development to build a fair and supportive workplace for all staff.
  • Lead by Example: Act as visible sponsors of EDI—raising awareness, inspiring others, and embedding inclusive practices across teaching, research, and operations.
  • Engage and Participate: Each member contributes actively by supporting or organising at least one EDI or SDG-related event each year.
  • Partner and Influence: Work with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen UNSW’s role as a leader in responsible management, equity, and inclusion.

In short: We lead, act, and advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion—ensuring UNSW Business School lives its values and delivers impact for all.
