Parenting and family support has been identified as a priority issue for the Australian Government. So, an understanding of the nature of a national policy framework that focuses explicitly on parenting is needed to establish and drive policy and practice. 

This comparative analysis (based on practices in the EU and other countries) on parenting policy valuably complemented work already done in this area to help the department, government and community consider and develop an optimal framework under which parenting policy can progress.
